چکیده
Background: This study compared acute Achilles tendon repairs' functional and clinical outcomes with two different surgical techniques; modified percutaneous open repair.
Material Method: retrospective analyzed 57 patients an rupture (AATR) who underwent repair. 46 met the eligibility criteria were enrolled divided into groups based on technique. 23 from Group 1 treated using repair under local anesthesia, 2 regional anesthesia. Postoperatively, evaluated American Orthopedic Foot Ankle Society (AOFAS) Hindfoot Questionnaire score at final follow-up. The other included return to work, sports activities, capacity complete single heel rise, leg circumference, estimated limb symmetry indices, resting angle (ATRA), complications, timing of index surgery.
Results: At time surgery, mean age was 35.9 7.5 years (range, 25–47 years). average follow-up 34.8±6.5 months (24–52 months). age, gender, body mass (BMI), level, duration injury similar in both groups. a minimum 2-year follow-up, good pain relief achieved for all patients. AOFAS scores 93.4±4.1 (88-100) 92.2±5.2 (82-100) 2. There no statistically significant difference between concerning calf single-leg activities. However, procedure had shorter than technique (p

Retrospective analysis of mini-open repair versus open repair for acute Achilles tendon ruptures.
PURPOSE Debate exists over optimal treatment for acute Achilles tendon ruptures. Recent literature suggests the mini-open technique may provide the reliability of the open repair with the decreased complication rate of non-operative treatment. This retrospective review compares acute tendon ruptures treated with one of two techniques: open repair (TO) or mini-open repair (MOA). METHODS & RESU...
متن کاملAchilles Tendon Repair, A Modified Technique
Background: Wound complications following open repair for acute Achilles tendon ruptures (AATR) remain the subject of significant debate. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of covering repaired AATR using well-nourished connective tissues (paratenon and deep fascia) to avoid complications after open repair. Methods: In this case series study, open repair was performed for 3...
متن کاملAugmented repair of Achilles tendon ruptures.
We performed a series of repairs of Achilles tendon ruptures in athletes using suture augmented with a polyethylene terephthalate mesh synthetic graft. No postoperative immobilization was used. The 29 patients were aged 25 to 54 years and all practiced sports a minimum of 4 hours weekly. At the followup, ranging from 6 months to 5 years, ankle mobility was normal in all but one patient, who had...
متن کاملRepair of Achilles tendon ruptures with peroneus brevis tendon augmentation.
PURPOSE To report 22 patients who underwent repair of compound Achilles tendon ruptures with peroneus brevis tendon augmentation. METHODS Records of 6 women and 19 men aged 21 to 42 (mean, 28) years who underwent repair of compound Achilles tendon ruptures with peroneus brevis tendon augmentation were reviewed. All the wounds were transverse/oblique, minimally contaminated, and could be close...
متن کاملPercutaneous versus Open Achilles Tendon Repair: A Case-Control Study
Purpose: We investigated whether percutaneous suturing of Achilles tendon ruptures showed better results and superiority in terms of clinical outcomes when compared to open suturing. Methods: We conducted a case-control study. Between 2009 and 2014, we performed surgical revisions of closed acute Achilles tendon ruptures in our hospital in 146 patients, of which 71 patients (2012-2014) received...
